Our dear PPS-STC president is this year's awardee for the TOPICS (The outstanding physician in community service ) for Laguna given at the grand ballroom in Bellevue Hotel,Alabang MM last November 7,2008 by the ALMS (Auxillary to the Laguna Medical Society).

Our indefatigable president,Dr.Rey Lapak rendered his opening remarks during the 4th Symposium for medical and paramedical personnel (Pediatrics in the Community 3) in Batangas last Oct 24,2008.
This is in line with our mission of pediatric knowledge dissemination through interlinkages with other health organizations in our region.

A very successful and well attended 1st CPSP midyear convention and Fe Del Mundo Med Center Postgraduate Course was held at Mt.Malarayat Country Club with the theme " And Batang Pinoy -Ngayon at Bukas" last October 21-22,2008. Kudos to Dr.Benny Atienza and to his organizing committee for a job well done!!!
Gov.Vilma Santos-Recto even graced this event.

October 19,2008 ,Sunday , was a great day for the Los Banos kids since ARAW NG MGA BATA was held through the initiative of the untiring pediatricians from Los Banos ,Laguna. This is in part of the Los Banos MHO project in tandem with the monthly subspecialty lectures .

Around 14 PPS-STC members attended the 2008 American Academy of Pediatrics NCE (National Conference and Exhibition) held at the Hynes Convention Center at Boston ,Massachusets last October 10-14,2008.
This CME gave us the chance to update in what's current and what's hot in the field of Pediatrics and at the same time bond with our fellow members specially during the exhibit hall visits.

Oct 15,2008 marked the GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY . Dr. Lapak together with Dr.Kitty Miranda joined the City Mayor of Sta. Rosa ,Mayor Arlene Arcillas and Dr. June of Sta. Rosa Medical Society to launch this special project among the school kids in Santa Rosa City to instill this basic hygiene habits in protecting their health against common childhood diseases.

Atopic dermatitis is a great challenge to pediatricians hence this lecture was requested once more from Stiefel Phils with Dra.Roberto Romero as the perfect lecturer for this topic. As such, around 75 pediatricians were enlightened (entertained )by the jolly lecture of Dra.Romero. New insights on the understanding and current available treatments were discussed in an hour of dermatology lecture.

Dr. Benny Atienza was recently awarded as the national TOPICS(The Outstanding Physician In Community Service) awardee last Sept. 27,2008 given by the Auxilary to the Philippine Medical Association(APMA) held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel . His very active and ever expanding Bulilit Health Workers child advocacy for the past 11 years plus his newborn screening leadership gave him the best points to get this years TOPICS award .
Congratulations once again Benny and may you touch and empower more children .

In time for the National Medicine Week which is celebrated every September, the 35th Bulilit Health Workers training was launched this Sept 24,2008 at the Medicine Auditorium of University of Perpetual Help Medical Center .Twenty-six Grade 4 students of UPHMC elementary were oriented on the objectives of this child advocacy project by the untiring founder Dr.Benito Atienza . This child advocacy project is a joint project of PPS-STC, LMS and ALMS, CPSP-STC,Binan Medical Society, the MOB Foundation and Cong.Dan Fernandez.
